Information

With the GMTO EV multitester, you can perform essential measurements on hybrid and electric vehicles.

After de-energizing the vehicle, it is necessary to perform a safety check using a measurement. This measurement ensures that you can work on the vehicle safely. It is therefore important to use measuring equipment that is suitable for this purpose. This tester complies with CAT III 1000V standards and meets the EAV standard.

The GMTO EV multitester allows you to perform an insulation test or diagnose insulation faults. These measurements are similar to resistance measurements but involve the application of a high voltage by the tester: 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V, or 1000V. The voltage you select should be equal to or slightly higher than the maximum voltage present in the high-voltage section. With the ability to select 50V and 100V, this multitester is also suitable for current and future 48V systems. Additionally, piezo injectors can be tested under load for insulation faults.

The tester also enables an earth continuity test, also known as equipotential bonding. During this test, a resistance measurement is performed using a test current of 200 mA, as prescribed by the vehicle manufacturer. This allows for highly precise and loaded resistance determination. Resolution: 0.001 ohm (accuracy: 1 milliohm).

Key Features:

  • Suitable for measurements in 12V, 24V, and 48V systems, as well as high-voltage systems up to 1000V
  • Voltmeter AC/DC: up to 1000V
  • Earth continuity test: 0.015 ohm – 2.000 ohm @ 200 mA and up to 20 ohm @ 90 mA
  • 5 test voltages: 50V, 100V, 250V, 500V, or 1000V
  • Ohmmeter: measures resistances from 100 milliohms (0.1 Ω) to 60 megaohms (60,000,000 Ω)
  • Up to 25 gigaohms (25,000,000,000 Ω) during insulation tests
  • Dual display (e.g., to show resistance and test voltage simultaneously)
  • Frequency meter: refreshes 60x per second, displayed via an analog bar graph
  • Perform insulation or equipotential bonding tests with one hand using the test button on the probe
  • Detection and warning for incorrect connection to the tester
  • Measurements comply with CAT III 1000V and the EAV standard for hybrid and electric vehicles
  • PI/DAR measurements possible
