Information
Introduction
Electric vehicles have now become a common presence in workshops, which means that issues with these vehicles are also increasingly common. This training has been developed based on practical experiences. After a short introduction, you will dive into hands-on problem-solving, and by the end of the day, you’ll be ready to apply this practical knowledge immediately.
Prerequisites
To participate in this training, a basic understanding of EV1 and EV2 is required. It’s also recommended to have completed EV3 and EV4 courses.
Key Points
- Insulation faults and potential equalization
- Diagnostics on the high-voltage system
- Diagnostics on the charging port
- Structure of EV error codes
- Measuring e-components
Topics
The following topics will be covered in the course:
- Practical-focused training – You’ll work directly on real-life issues and case studies to gain hands-on experience.
- Insulation faults – This is a common issue. A potential equalization test after repair is essential to ensure safety.
- HV relays in the battery pack – The HV relays serve multiple functions. By analyzing the relay switching processes, you can gain insight into how the vehicle manages them.
- Battery pack issues – In EV4, you learned a lot about these; in EV5, we’ll take it further with practical examples.
- Disconnecting a vehicle from a charging station in case of an issue.
- Handling a 12-volt lithium-ion battery – How to work with these specific battery types.
- Function and diagnostics of charging connections – Covers both AC charging and DC fast charging, along with diagnostic techniques.
